The Sling Lounge was modeled after the original sling chair. This design leveraged primary bend between the front leg and the armrest crossbar, supported off-center by the rear leg. In the SLING Lounge, the crossbar serves as the seat, and a Z-shape forms the backrest. The strong down angle of the seat is supported by a crossing “kickstand” formed similar to the back of the original Sling. In this case, it was recessed into the seat form to enhance the floating nature of the primary Z profile. The leg rest borrowed the lounge chair's DNA but was shortened to nest cleanly beneath it. The leg rest also retains a floating quality and can both lean in to mimic the shape of the chair, or turn around to create a continuous lounge surface.
